MeowDokuCat Sudoku Game

How to Play Meowdoku

Meowdoku is solved by eliminating cells that break one of four connected constraints.

Four constraints, shown together

Rules

A completed board has exactly one cat in each horizontal row and each vertical column. Once a cat is fixed, every other cell on those two lines can be marked unavailable.

  1. Rule 01

One cat in every row and column

A completed board has exactly one cat in each horizontal row and each vertical column. Once a cat is fixed, every other cell on those two lines can be marked unavailable.

  2. Rule 02

One cat in every colored region

Each colored area also contains exactly one cat. Small or narrow regions are useful starting points because they often have fewer legal cells.

  3. Rule 03

    Cats cannot touch

Cats may not share an edge or a corner. A placed cat therefore excludes all surrounding cells, including the four diagonal neighbors.

  4. Rule 04

    Use marks before guesses

Combine the exclusions. When a row, column, or region has only one unmarked cell left, that cell is the next safe placement.

Meowdoku Tips

Strong solving comes from combining constraints instead of checking each one in isolation.

  1. 1

Scan the smallest or most restricted region.

  2. 2

Record every exclusion caused by rows, columns, regions, and adjacent cats.

  3. 3

Place only the candidate that survives all four checks.
